A DAS Energy Power Plant at the Paul Scherrer Institute
As part of the ETH Domain, the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Switzerland is a key pillar of the Swiss research landscape and conducts world-leading research in future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation, and the fundamental laws of nature. With its unique large-scale research facilities—such as particle accelerators, synchrotrons, and the Swiss Light Source (SLS)—PSI provides a platform for cutting-edge international research in areas like quantum science and medical radiation therapy. The SLS, one of the world’s most powerful X-ray light sources, is currently undergoing a major upgrade (SLS 2.0), which includes a roof renovation now equipped with DAS Energy PV modules.
DAS Energy: Proud PV Supplier Together with AluPlusSolar Kalzip on the Roof of PSI
We are truly proud to contribute to such a renowned scientific institution as the Paul Scherrer Institute. With its pioneering research and unique facilities, PSI plays a crucial role in addressing global challenges—whether in future technologies, energy, climate, or health. We are excited to be part of this innovative and forward-thinking organization and to contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and technology.
Aluminium & Solar
As part of the roof renovation, the old bitumen roof was replaced by a new, modern aluminum shell. This shell is equipped with an innovative photovoltaic system consisting of 7,513 lightweight and flexible DAS Energy modules of the 12x2M type, each with a capacity of 120 kWp. With a total installed capacity of approximately 1 MWp, the system has been successfully commissioned. The PV system reliably supplies electricity to PSI and contributes to reducing the energy consumption of the SLS by up to 33%.
